UBS analyst Benjamin Schachter relays word from his colleague in Taiwan, fellow UBS analyst Arthur Hseih, that Google will be shipping approximately 50,000 GPhones on HTC hardware by the end of the year. The only catch is that these are apparently reserved for software developers.
“These initial phones are not going to be for sale,” Benjamin Schachter, one of the analysts who worked on the report, said in a phone call earlier today. “These are going to be available for developers only to understand how the software works.” [Source: CNN/Fortune]

1I am impressed by the Android the moment I run it with ecplise, it seems so cool and I can’t wait to develop my own ^^. However my main concern is, can I test run any Android apps with any phones available in the market? or I just have to wait for gphone?

2I don’t believe any apps written for Android will function on anything other than Android, or an emulator which is available here: http://code.google.com/android/download.html
There is a chance that someone could get Android ported to an HTC phone over at http://forum.xda-developers.com/ or in the Android discussion group: http://groups.google.com/group/android-developers
